COVID-19 and St Luke’s

Below are a few of the things St Luke’s is doing in the age of Covid 19. We hope you are encouraged by our outreach as well as lifted up by our weekly online services. We are doing our best to innovate! For all the latest news, subscribe to our weekly newsletter by contacting our office at

Virtual Services Every Week

View the weekly videos of our services during the social-distancing closures. Our services include music, Gospel readings, sermons as well as virtual communion instructions. Videos are accessed via our YouTube channel and can be shared with friends and family.

Re-Opening Plans and Updates

What will the re-opening of St Luke’s look like and when will it happen? We know many of you are eager to resume worshiping in person – and so are we. We are currently discussing our re-opening plans so check back soon for updates. We may need to open in phases and we may not go back to worshiping like we did pre-Covid for a while, but rest assured, we are working through possible scenarios and we will keep you informed.

Outreach: Salvation Army Feeding Program

Several times a year we work with the Salvation Army in Bellevue to cook and deliver meals to the local food-insecure population. Normally our efforts serve between 40 – 50 people. That said, Covid 19 has created a huge need so we served 191 individually-boxed meals to the Salvation Army on Monday, June 29th.

Sanctuary Open for Drop-In Visits

If you would like to stop by and sit in the sanctuary, Pastor Mark will be in the office on Wednesdays from 10a to 1p. Plan on wearing a mask and honoring physical distancing best practices. If Wednesdays don’t work for you then contact pastor Mark for alternate arrangements.

Virtual Vacation Bible Adventure is happening…and it’s free!

This summer things are different … that also means that you can VVBA your own way! Vacation Bible School is going Virtual. So, what does that mean? All of the content will be pre-recorded online videos on the St. Luke’s YouTube channel.  All videos will become available the week of July 27th – July 31st, but you can watch them at any time before August 31st.

Also, during this time St. Luke’s will not be collecting registration fees for Virtual Vacation Bible Adventure. It is a gift to our community and beyond. We are accepting free will offerings for the the COVID-19 relief fund of the NW Washington Synod of the ELCA. This fund is has been set up to help distribute monies to those who need funding (particularly the most vulnerable ministries) and also provide an opportunity for those who are seeking a way to support others in the greater communities that our synod churches serve.

Outreach: Congregations for Kids

Every year we conduct a donation drive to acquire school supplies for deserving students. As with everything, this year is a little different! Rather than request supplies, we are asking for monetary donations. All funds will be earmarked for Congregations for Kids. Our supply drive is happening now through August 15th.

Outreach: Gift Cards to Bellevue Families in Need

Through the St Luke’s Outreach Committee, we furnish $25 QFC/Kroger gift cards that can be used for groceries or gas.  These cards are given to the Bellevue School District for distribution through their Family Connection Centers located in local elementary and secondary schools.  Families can come to these centers to receive support for a variety of needs.  To date, we have purchased $4,475 in cards that have benefited up to 179 families. The need is great. We appreciate your support with this important and ongoing ministry.
